We are seeking an experienced and energetic User Experience (UX) Designer with a passion for audio to support our commercial division. Ideal candidates will have excellent communication and organizational skills, thrive at problem solving and have a customer focused mentality. Candidates must also be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work efficiently in a constantly changing environment with a diverse group of customers.
The User Experience (UX) Designer will be involved in the entire process of acquiring and integrating our product, including aspects of branding, design, usability, and functionality. The UX Designer will work with the Product Managers on customer feedback and the Engineering Teams to bring designs and solutions to life.
Looking for qualified candidates in or willing to relocate to the Louisville, KY market. This position does not offer a remote option.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to understand user requirements and translate them into visually appealing and highly usable interfaces.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and interactive mockups to effectively communicate design ideas and concepts.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and iterate on designs based on user insights.
- Work closely with front-end developers to implement user interfaces, ensuring seamless integration between design and development.
- Develop and maintain design systems and style guides to ensure consistency and efficiency across products.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UI/UX design and development.
- Advocate for user-centered design principles and educate team members on UI/UX best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Take ownership of the user experiences across multiple platforms targeted at multiple user types.
Essential Tasks
- Break larger plan down to smaller tasks and determine plan and timeline to meet project milestones.
- Assist UI Engineer(s) as a technical consultant in design possibilities.
- Assist in the development and application of acceptance test criteria for products.
- Support legacy Angular code as necessary.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Design, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE

Requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a UI/UX Engineer/Designer.

Minimum of 3 years' experience showcasing successful UI/UX projects.

Minimum of 3 years' experience integrating with JavaScript frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, Angula, Vue.js) and front-end development workflows (e.g., version control, task runners, module bundlers) is preferred.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience with user research methods, usability testing, and A/B testing.
Skills
Computer Skills
- Proficient understanding of MS Office Programs (Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Proficient understanding in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, InVision.
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices in usability and accessibility.
- Strong knowledge of front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, SASS, JavaScript, and responsive design.
- Ability to learn MiTek’s internal computer systems.
